Pranjali’s life changed forever on November 2, 2014. It was when she was diagnosed with ‘Type 1 Late Autoimmune Diabetes in Adult’s (LADA.)’ Type 1 diabetes occurs when the pancreas stops cooperating. This can happen to anyone at any time.

One day, she was feeling unwell and was taken to the hospital. And when she was tested for diabetes, her blood sugar was 395. Just to reconfirm, the test was done again. And the blood sugar spiked up to 400. Pranjali was immediately admitted. But, she didn’t have any idea of what all of this meant.

Pranjali says that the reality of it hit her on the day of discharge. A doctor came to teach her about insulin injection. He told her “You cannot forget taking insulin, like you cannot forget to breathe.” After the realization of the situation set in, Pranjali decided to be strong about it and fight it out.

How Pranjali Dealt with it?

All of a sudden Pranjali’s life changed forever. In the beginning, it was hard to deal with daily pricking. It was something that she would have to do for the rest of her life. The fluctuating levels used to frustrate Pranjali. And there were moments she felt mentally drained. But, she gained a lot of courage later on. It was from watching the young diabetic children who had to deal with it.

Pranjali says that she was engulfed with negativity sometimes. As it was too much to deal with all of a sudden. But, she holds on to hope. “I know how hard it is to fight for the freedom that you deserve. And that is your right so I won’t quit nor will I ever give up.” Her aim in talking about her story is to spread awareness around diabetes.
